Frequently Asked Questions
1. When and how do I get in touch with school staff?
Staff will be available at the schools or through electronic communication during all Home Study/NTI Days. Please contact your student's school or email your child's teacher with questions or concerns. Staff will also be available via a variety of online platforms including Zoom, Google Classroom, and Microsoft Teams.
2. How will instructional material be delivered?
Digital and hard copy material (if requested) will be available for students on Home Study/NTI Days.
3. How will my student be accounted for and how will they be graded?
"Daily participation" is the measure of the interactions between teachers and students and a measure of a student's engagement in the instructional process. It is NOT a measure of the quality of student work. Grading practices determine quality. Student participation will be counted daily in Infinite Campus by teachers if a student:
- turns in completed work
- has two-way contact with teacher (examples include email, Zoom, phone calls, text messages, Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams)
- logs into a learning platform (examples include Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, IXL, MobyMax, or other learning software).
- logs into Infinite Campus Parent or Student Portal
Grades will be based on the quality of submitted work and assessment scores as determined by the teacher. Assignment and assessment grades will be posted in Infinite Campus.
4. Can I help my student?
Work assigned for Home Study/NTI days should be completed by students. Faculty members will be at schools or accessible through other means on these days in order to assist with any questions. Parents may also assist students in addressing questions, if able, or direct students to their teacher for assistance, but should not complete student work.
5. Where do I find my student's work?
Instructions for accessing digital content will be provided to every family. Student resource materials, if requested, will also be sent home with students in case online resources are not accessible.
6. What happens if someone at my child's school has COVID?
When someone within the school tests positive, the local health department will coordinate with school officials to determine all close contacts of the infected person. Please see the following link for more information Contact Tracing: A Guide For Parents
7. How does my student get help at home during the school day when my child's teacher is in class?
Livingston County Schools is offering help for our students and parents through our Home Study Hotline. Students and parents may call 270-928-4726 Tuesday through Friday from 8:00am until 2:30pm or email the Home Study Hotline at email@example.com when their teacher is not available to ask questions and receive help with their assignments.
